How to use Excel to JSON
- Load the workbook and choose the worksheets to export. Hidden sheets are excluded initially; select them only if you intend to share their data.
- Use the first row as unique, non-empty keys for objects, or turn headers off for arrays of rows. Choose indented or compact JSON and optional blank-row removal.
- Inspect the worksheet and JSON previews, then download. Multiple sheets produce an object keyed by worksheet name; one sheet produces an array.
What to expect
Upload one unencrypted XLSX workbook up to 10 MB and select one or more worksheets. XLS and XLSM are not supported. Up to 30 sheets and 100,000 cells total. Formula cells use cached values without recalculation; dates use ISO text. Formatting, charts and macros are excluded.

Your files and inputs are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. Download or copy results before leaving. Normal site and library requests still reach the hosting service.
Frequently asked questions
Why do duplicate headers stop export?
Object keys must be unique to avoid losing values. Rename repeated or blank headers in Excel, or turn the header setting off to export arrays.
Are formulas calculated?
No. The saved result is exported. A formula without a saved result becomes blank. Recalculate and save your workbook in Excel before importing it.
Will identifiers keep leading zeros?
Text cells retain leading zeros. Numeric display formatting is not exported, so store SKUs and long identifiers as text in the original workbook.
Why does the JSON preview stop early?
The preview is capped at 12,000 characters for readability. The downloaded JSON includes the complete selected data.
